The third Equinix
Los Angeles area center, located at 1920
E. Maple St., El Segundo, CA 90245, offers
additional data center space to respond to the
increasing customer demands within the digital
media and entertainment industry, including
MySpace.com, one of their anchor
customers. This new facility is 107,000
square feet and was purchased for $34.5 million,
and was previously the home of Exodus.
Equinix added approximately 2,000 cabinets to
the facility and has doubled Equinix's Los
Angeles area footprint to more than 200,000
square feet. The El Segundo center is
interconnected to Equinix's downtown Los Angeles
(IBX®) centers through redundant dark fiber
links managed by Equinix. This
interconnection fabric enables customers in each
center to have direct access to each other as if
they were in the same location. Moreover,
this allows immediate access to more than 85
networks operating within Equinix's L.A. (IBX®).
All three
locations maintain the high standards that
Equinix is known for by providing an advanced
power infrastructure, high-performance,
sophisticated on-site security,
and
perfected environmental control.
Because Equinix
offers a special Equinix GigE Exchange, it makes
it an attractive location for Internet business
opportunity. This
particular service allows Equinix customers to
interconnect with the aggregation of Internet
companies that are operating within Equinix (IBX®)
centers for
peering and transit. Furthermore, it also
allows the costs of traditional transit
arrangements to be lowered. Equinix's
core Internet exchange services make it possible
for Internet businesses to easily interconnect
with a choice of business partners on a private
basis and travel at a rate that is extremely
fast. As a result, ISPs as well as other
customers receive the flexibility, speed, and
adaptability they need to grow their
business.

200 different carriers and ISPs participate in
Equinix (IBX®) centers as well as some of the

county.
