Switch
and Data allows customers more choices for expansion
and the ability to maximize their presence
within the 111 8th Avenue and 60 Hudson Street carrier hotels. Often, businesses
need additional space, power, and connectivity
for their services and they are interested in
interconnecting the various NYC locations.
Switch and Data New York provides such services,
whereby their customers don't
need to host
in both locations
or pay for expensive
WAN connections. Customers
simply establish a presence at one site, and use
the Metro Cross Connect service to gain access
to all of the carriers at the other. This
enables connectivity to more than 330 different
carriers.
111 8th Avenue is
a 16-story building conveniently located near the Bell
Atlantic West 18th Street CO. This
particular Switch and Data facility is consider ed
to be a highly coveted telecom location in NYC
and it is known as one of the major
telco hotels in the United States. The
building was built in 1932 and was originally
the Port of New York Authority. Switch and
Data offers Fiber, DS1, DS3 and Ethernet
connectivity between all suites. Upgrades
to the network included the Cisco ONS 15600
Series MSSP.
This facilitated Switch and Data to grow business and support more connectivity
options for its customers.
Located at 60 Hudson is another premier carrier
hotel in NYC belonging to Switch and Data. This facility
deployed the Cisco ONS 15216 Metro dense
wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) Platform
and connected it to 111 8th Avenue. The
two sites have redundant 10 Gigabit Ethernet and
OC-48 links. This provides Switch and Data
customers a bridge between both of the
abovementioned facilities, which are considered
high-density, highly sought-after network
connectivity hubs. Previously, if Switch
and Data customers had a presence at both
facilities, they had to host in both or pay for
expensive WAN connections. Now, customers
can use the Metro Cross Connect service.
Together, the two
addresses at 111 8th Avenue and 60 Hudson deliver
abundant redundant power, over 85,000 square
feet of space, and access to more than 330
distinct networks.
Lastly, the
Switch and Data facility at 65 Broadway is
located in a 21-story building just one block
from Wall Street. This location is in the
center of the financial district and is less
than a ½ mile from the 60 Hudson carrier hotel
and almost two miles from the 111 8th Avenue
carrier hotel. This site is 15,000 square
feet of colocation space and provides multiple
connectivity options to customers, as well.
Collectively, Switch and Data offers the largest
neutral marketplace for networks in the New York
metropolitan area.
About New York
New York
is the third most populous state in the United
States. It is located in the Mid-Atlantic region
and it is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts,
Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. It
also shares an international border with Canada.
The state's five largest cities are New York
City, Buffalo, Rochester, Yonk ers
and Syracuse. New York is known for its
history as a gateway for immigration to the
United States. New York was one of the
original thirteen
colonies that
became the United States.
The state has 62
counties. While the state is best known
for New York City's urban environment, most of
the state is dominated by farms, forests,
rivers, mountains, and lakes. Four of New
York City's five boroughs are located on three
islands at the mouth of the Hudson River.
They include Manhattan Island, Staten Island,
and Brooklyn and Queens on Long Island. As
of 2006, New York was the third largest state in
population after California and Texas. The
estimated population is 19,306,183.
New York City
drives the state's economy and is the leading
center of banking, finance, and communication in
the United States. It is also the home of
the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Wall
Street in Manhattan
where the infamous skyscrapers exist and light
up the sky at night. Many
of the world's largest corporations locate their
home offices in Manhattan or in nearby
Westchester County. New
York is also known as a transportation and
manufacturing center. Additionally, the
Atlantic side of Long Island is known for its
saltwater commercial fishery with clams,
lobsters, squid, and flounder.
NYC is considered
the east coast entertainment hub, where
recording artists, musicians, actors, writers,
and dancers on Broadway, along with late night TV shows like
SNL and David Letterman have made the city
globally known. Equally, professional
sports teams, such as the Yankees and the Giants
are loved with a passion by its residents.
Fashion, nightlife, and some of the best known
chefs at award-winning restaurants make NYC a
tourist hotspot.
